An exhibition of Russian universities in Baalbeck entitled: Study in Russia

Under the patronage of the Governor of Baalbek-Hermel Mr. Bashir Khoder, and in the presence of the Cultural Counselor of the Russian Embassy, ​​Dr. Vadim Zaychkov, the “Russian-Lebanese Cultural Center in Baalbek”, in cooperation with the “Russian House” in Beirut, and the Baalbek Municipalities Union, organized the exhibition “The Pioneering Russian Universities” in the Baalbek Municipal Union Hall.

Thirteen Russian universities participated in the exhibition, which opened under the slogan “I will study in Russia,” providing students with a wide range of specializations that cover all the needs of the labor market.

Governor Khoder said: “The honorable hadith called us to seek knowledge even in China, so how if we have the opportunity to benefit from educational grants in major Russian universities, according to a single criterion based on transparency, capabilities, and merit, without any favoritism, and this is a pioneering feature. We thank the Russian Embassy  and the Cultural Counsellor for approval.

He considered that “this specialized academic exhibition opens new horizons for the people of the country in general, and the youth in particular, to choose the appropriate university and specialization, and to receive knowledge and sciences that contribute to building and fortifying our society and our country.”

He called on the students to “return to the homeland after obtaining their higher degrees, so that Lebanon, its regions and its people can benefit from the educational attainment of promising young people on whom we always count in the process of advancement and construction and achieving sustainable development.”

Khoder concluded by thanking “the Russian Federation, which has always stood by Lebanon and its issues, and the Russian Embassy and the Russian-Lebanese Cultural Center for their interest in securing the largest possible number of scholarships for Lebanese students in general and Baalbek-Hermel students in particular.”

Ali Yaghi

The President of the Union of Baalbek Municipalities, Ali Fayyad Yaghi, welcomed the participants in the exhibition, and said: “We have always worked to serve people and serve our community, and this edifice will remain open to good will and cultural, health, educational and social activities, and we hope that this meeting will meet the students’ scientific and academic visions and aspirations.

As for the cultural advisor of the Russian Embassy, ​​Dr. Zaychkov, he indicated that “this exhibition was decided to be held in three Lebanese cities during this difficult time that Lebanon is going through to ease the burden of transportation on students.  Hundreds of graduates from world-renowned Russian universities.

He continued: “I was honored to visit several schools in Baalbek, and I was drawn to the educational level of the students and their high rates in the official exams, and this bodes well that after your graduation, you will certainly contribute to building your country, and we always wish Lebanon and its people prosperity and a brilliant future, success and brilliance.”

He added: “The Russian Federation is the largest country in the world, with 1,100 universities, and 30 scientific research universities at a world-leading level. Russia offers about 27,000 scholarships annually to students around the world. We have chosen to participate in this exhibition today, 13 leading universities in the world.  Russia, so that Lebanese students can learn about the advantages of these universities, and choose the appropriate specializations according to the future labor market.

He called on the student to “choose himself the appropriate university and specialization for him, and to submit the scholarship application directly by registering on the website before next December 15th, and not through offices or intermediaries.  From the Russian house, the embassy, ​​and universities early next year, the main criterion for us is the wall and efficiency.”

Zaychkov concluded, noting that “foreign students who pursue studies in Russian universities were allowed to work to ease the burdens on their families, and thus the student continues his studies and works at the same time.”
